holy schnikes batman!

Hows it going? (Somewhat rhetorical question) My name is Ian, or Ian-Michael Ivimey Hadder if your'e mad at me. I will be turning 24 roughly a week, I grew up in North County SD but as soon as I turned 18 I started moving all over, my favorite residence being Mammoth Lakes, CA. Currently I serve tables at the Escondido Stone Brewery (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gdjq_Cb5b3Q <upper right hand corner)and currently live in Carlsbad.

This will be my second to last semester of pre-requisites before I can begin to apply for the X-ray Technitian school near Tahoe I aspire to attend. I am taking this class because of the requirements it meets as well as the lack of physical presence it requires seeing as I am moving to north lake Tahoe during the semester. I am a pretty easy going guy, I love to paint, climb, discover new music, do almost anything outdoors/physical but first and foremost I am a snowboarder. Shredding the gnar 'till the day I die ;) I consider myself very approachable so if anyone thinks of a way I can help something, please let me know. I look forward to learning along side everyone in this class. Thank you for spending the time to learn a thing or two about who I am! Stay Classy colleagues.

Hello everyone! My name is Jamy and this is my first year at MiraCosta :)
I'm a bit of an introvert but once I get to know someone, I never shut up. One thin you'll learn about me is that I am a total geek. I love videogames, comic books, anime...anything you can think of that's 'white and nerdy' is what I love. And i know I'm not smiling in this picture but I take really bad smiling pictures so yea... bleh :P

I also love cats! I had to beg my dad to let me have one (he dislikes them a lot) and this year for my birthday, I got my wish. Seriously, if I had my way, I'd have 2 or 3 of them by now.  So this is my pretty kitty Toast. She loves stealing from the toaster if you don't get there fast enough, so the name has stuck.  The fact that she's the color of burnt toast also helps quite a bit hahaha :) I love her to bits even though she has a tendency to run up and hug your leg while making dinner. She's a bit of a lazy pants, but she loves being held and snuggled which is what I've always wanted in a cat :D

I'm an avid gamer and have been since I was a little kid watching my mom play The Legend of Zelda. I love just about any type of game though unfortunately have never played on Xbox (shame, I know).  Regardless, I've played A LOT of stuff.  From Megaman to Assassin's Creed, I'm a fan of all genres and platforms. I love having a good conversation about gaming. To me, its not just an expensive hobby (which it most certainly is), it can be another way of telling a story.  Instead of imagining what happens, you can in a sense experience it first hand.  Don't gt me wrong, I love imagination when it comes to storytelling, i just think its a cool visual way of taking you through a story. (seriously though, I love reading. If my hands aren't wrapped around a controller, they're wrapped around a book.)

Are you good? Good. Now this next thing...well its kind of embarrassing. Its not, but people at work poke fun at me for it and call my farmer girl for this but uh... I raise these things:

So....yeah, I have farm birds. Its weird for most people that know me, but they really are awesome pets.  They keep the lawn mowed, they make my breakfast, and they're just fun to be around. Seriously! They run up and perch on your shoulder and eat right out of you hand. They come in all these different sizes and personalities. They are pretty much like any other pet except they lay eggs for you :) So I guess you could say I'm some sort of an animal lover, but hey, who needs labels? :P

So that's basically it...though I suppose that I could add that I dabble in artsy stuff. Drawing and writing are one of my passions, though sadly I have fallen out of my usual writing/drawing rhythm. I sincerely hope I 'fall' back into it.  Particularly because those are two of the things that keep me the most sane so to speak. I also crochet, which is totally a grandma thing (or so I've been told) but its a lot of fun! Where else am I going to find this cute plush of Ezio Auditore da Firenze?!

Hello Everyone! My name is Erica Navarette and I am 20 years old. I would describe myself as a kind, loving, and a fun person. I have grown up in San Diego and love going to the beach. I also love Mexican food and am a vegetarian. I love taking photos so I'll be sharing plenty with you on here. I have a teacup chihuahua named Belle and she is the sweetest thing.

Belle is only 4lbs.

I am a Child Development major and would love to work with children when I graduate. This is my first semester at Mira Costa and I'm excited to have online classes.
I have recently moved home after going to school in North Carolina the last two years. I was recruited out of high school to play softball at UNC Greensboro and had an amazing time. I made the best memories and am walking away pleased with my college experience. I decided that I no longer wanted to play softball because it was interfering with my school work so that is why I came home.

This summer was truly the best summer. I was able to do a lot. I went to the Dallas Cowboys training camp in Oxnard,CA. I'm a huge football fan. My Dad is from Texas and I was raised on loving the Cowboys. I was able to meet some of them and even get autographs. Can't wait for the season to start!

This summer I had the opportunity to see Beyonce live in
LA. She was so amazing and the best live performer I
have ever seen and heard. I was in VIP box seats which
made the experience that much better.

My family is something that I value most in my life and I am so happy that I can spend so much time with them. We have them over almost every weekend and we enjoy everyones company. We had a lot of BBQs this summer and bonfires. 

I went to Laughlin with my family and Lake Havasu for a day. We rented a pontoon boat and was on the water most of the time. It was over 100 degrees but hot weather wasn't going to stop us from having fun!

Blog Post 1

Hi everyone, my name is Rachele Jacobs.  I just turned 18 on July 9th, and I am currently taking my first fall semester of college! Woo!  I love animals and music, going outside, hanging out with friends; basically, anything that keeps me active and enjoying life.

Below are two pictures of my dog "Dottie"- very original, I know.  We got her a few years ago from the pound, were she was slightly on the skinny side... not anymore... which is probably my fault.

This is a picture of myself along with my 16 year old brother on the right.

I was born in Oceanside, and I am still currently living in Oceanside, but in a different house (rather than the one I grew up in).

  My mom is Australian, so used I travel to Australia every other year (now it's whenever I get the chance- due to work, etc.) to visit my family there.  My grandparents live on the Sunshine Coast, which is a little further up north from Brisbane.









I've played many sports throughout school, such as: volleyball, tennis and softball.  I played volleyball in 8th grade for my middle school.  The volleyball coach actually told me I should sign up, but I never did, so she called the house phone and convinced my mom to have me sign up! Awkward.  I am 5'11 and I would consider myself to be athletic.  I find myself being pretty good at any sport I play- hope I'm not sounding too conceded....  Anyways, I did tennis for my freshman and sophomore year of high school.  I made junior varsity my freshman year, and then managed to make varsity my sophomore year.  Lastly, I played softball for the first time my junior year and I made varsity.  I played center field and occasionally first base.  I played Little League with my two brothers when I was younger, so it defiantly helped me out.  My senior year I stopped playing sports, because I was too busy working and I wouldn't of been able to make most of the practices.  I hope to join a volleyball team/club soon, because I do miss staying active and the competitiveness of the sport.

Welcome . . . and an Introduction of Sorts

Hi there,

Thanks for hopping over here and having a look. You'll be using the blog regularly, so take a close look around. This post is simply a "get to know you" entry (or rather, "get to know ME" post ... you'll be composing a similar version shortly).

***This is posted in all its unedited glory. Occasionally, I'll post my raw drafts of things then edit them. The class is heavily revision-based, so I like my students to see revision happening rather than just hearing about it.

All that said . . . My name is Amy Bolaski. I'm 37 and wish I weren't, a Cancer, a mom, a wife, a tea enthusiast, an animal lover, a teacher. This is me. I don't like smiling in photos (clearly), and too much overt enthusiasm unnerves me, but I'm not as taciturn as I might look. I don't think I'm as green-tinged as the 2nd photo suggests, but perhaps I'm in denial. My little one took that shot, so I can't complain much about the levels.
