Blog 3 - Rhetorical Thesis

Thesis - Blog 3

In a recent article posted for The New Yorker titled “Prisons, Colleges and The Private-Sector Delusion,” using logos, appeal to ethos, irony, and figurative language Margaret Talbot downplays the support and glorification of the idea of privatization by conservatives, The Republican party and its 2012 presidential nominee.

Daniel,

I'd reverse the order of the phrases in the first sentence (i.e., use "Margaret Talbot downplays" before "using logos, appeal to ethos . . ." As is, the subject appears pretty late in the sentence, which makes it read awkwardly.

This is wordy, slightly confusing: "downplays the support and glorification of the idea of". I think you're simply trying to say that she doesn't support privatization but it's coming out more complicated than it is. Maybe not. In any case, it's a good thesis that, with a bit of polishing, can be very good.
