In a recent edition of The Nation, Katha Pollitt makes it known that until we stop believing in fairy tales, we aren't going to get very far scientifically. Using a sarcastic tone, rhetorical questions and common logic, Katha answer's the question: "What's wrong with Creationism?"

This is where I'm at with this.

I believe this is very well written, and I like how you used the title as a rhetorical question instead of simply stating the name. However, I don't think that the argument "until we stop believing in fairy tales, we aren't going to get very far scientifically" particularly works for this assignment, because it holds too much of a subjective (and disapproving) tone. I think if you just reword that one portion of the thesis, you'll be right on track! :)
Well, I do agree with Roxy on the "stop believing in fairy tales". I'm fairly sure Pollitt doesn't use the term or one close to it (though I'll check). Comes across as fairly subjective. The tone is recognizably patronizing.
I like the simplicity and clarity of Katha answer's the question: "What's wrong with Creationism?", and as Roxy also points out, you cleverly make the title of the article do double duty here. Kudos on that.
You do use the author's last name only after the first mention (full name the first time, just Pollitt from then on).
You might name "common logic" (as in "appeal to logos).
These are simply recommendations, so do with them as you will. :) On the whole, this is developing very well.
I'm doing this article too... primarily because I hated it. I am also struggling with my opinion on the article.
That being said, from an objective point of view, I found her style of writing and tone to be almost unbearable.
I like your thesis statement, I am biased though! -Daniel Lane
These help. Thanks.
Steve - good work! However, I think I'm in the same boat with Roxy & Amy regarding your sentence "stop believing in fairy tales" I know what you're saying & I agree but might like a different analogy. Alas, I am part of the problem since I am not offering a solution.
Really just being nit-picky here in case you are pursuing perfection! Overall, I thought it was clear & succint
