Blog Post 5

I chose http://www.salon.com/2012/07/18/obamas_killings_challenged_again/, by Glenn Greenwald, because it directly relates to what my piece is about. He immediately catches your attention by stating that Obama has his very own "death squad." Most of the general public should already be aware of this, Greenwald's issue was that the President's personal use for carrying out missions was causing death to American citizens, accidental deaths of course. It bothered me immediately because it continues to make people believe that it is all about the President, the President does not come up with these ideas to attack foreign countries. He approves bombings and SEAL teams to go in and eliminate targets.  The problem here is the accusations towards the President.

Greenwald supports his discussion with supposed "facts." Using quotes from other popular news sources as a way to make his argument more concrete. He connects to a certain type of audience, not my type, I think what he says is stupid and completely ridiculous.  I think most people with military background would disagree with what this article states. There are many other articles on this topic, most of which state the exact same thing; "The President has too much personal power and it should be taken away from him." It's going to keep happening, as we are a military country, so they just need to get over it and find something more to write about.

I've noticed this trend since the first Bush. It always makes me think of a Douglas Adams quote.
"...the job of the galactic president was not to wield power but to attract attention away from it."
