The review

I chose The Boston Globe's Tom Russo's review of "God Bless America."  His review starts out talking about the writer/director Bobcat Goldthwait with the first sentence, then goes on to talk about his opinion on what message Bobcat was trying to get across to viewers.  This is important, because Bobcat has an interesting view of the world, and a pretty good fan base.  Knowing he's involved, means knowing you're about to watch something that may just be insane.
The next two paragraphs talk about the protagonist's Joel Murray and Tara Lynne as well as the basic premise of the plot.  To paraphrase and take out the bloat, a man is going to die, so he decides to take America's rudest wastes of space with him.  He meets someone, and they go on a comedic killing spree.
He then goes back to talking about his opinion on Bobcat's message.  He gave the movie two out of four stars which is a fair shake.  That tells me the movie isn't completely wonderful, but it's worth a watch.  He didn't love or hate the movie, I appreciated that he talked about the good and the bad.
