Blog Post 1 Safe House

Truth be told the title was not what caught my eye on this review, but i decided to do it anyways. Ian Buckwalter has made it clear that not only has Daniel Espinosa copied and pasted Tony Scott's characteristic style for Denzel Washington to play as the cool-under-pressure character, but also that he has used Scott's cinematography style as well. He then starts to give a brief description of Tobin Frost and Matt Weston characters in the movie. He even takes the time to point out the name Frost hinting yet again how cool his character is under pressure. (Frosty, get it?)

Buckwalter points out the fact that this Denzel Washington and young rookie dynamic has been done previously in both Training Day and in Unstoppable. He did give kudos for the action scenes, but noted that it lacked innovation. He also gives kudos to Washington even though he has been playing the same roles, he's able to make the character like able. Reynolds receives credit for his great acting role as well. The end of the review gives yet another jab at the writer David Guggenheim's by saying even though the characters performances we're good, it couldn't save the movie as a whole.

In my opinion he is really calling the movie just another carbon copy of other Denzel Washington movies, capitalizing on his fame, acting ability, and pre-constructed pattens. The review itself didn't really stand out at all, the title was boring if anything and he doesn't use any puns or sarcasm to make his point. I found it to be a straight shot, it wasn't a bad review, but it wasn't the most interesting either.

I just want to start by saying I like the movie. I think you did a great job by catch the movie critic voice. But I’m a little confuse did he the critic like the movie or not?
